Can I send a registered letter fully online directly with CTT? ›
No. As of July 2026, CTT online sending for consumers only generates the documentation (acceptance slip and label); according to the official CTT help pages, the mailing must be completed at a CTT store or point. cartaregistada.pt prints and hands your letter to CTT for you, with no trips needed.
Which payment methods are accepted? ›
Credit or debit card and MB WAY, through secure Stripe payment. The price is €14.99 all included up to 10 pages; additional pages cost €0.50 each, with the total shown before you pay. You receive the invoice by email.
Does anyone read the content of my letter? ›
No. The file you upload is handled only for printing and enveloping, in a process with no content review. Your data is used solely to carry out the mailing, as described in our privacy policy.
What if the recipient does not collect or receive the letter? ›
CTT attempts delivery in person; if that is not possible, they leave a notice for collection at the post office. If the letter is not collected, it is returned with that indication, which also has documentary value. In tenancy matters, the law presumes the notice was received when sent to the address in the contract.
Plain registered letter vs. with proof of receipt — what is the difference? ›
A plain registered letter only proves it was sent. A registered letter with proof of receipt (AR) proves it was received — the recipient signs on delivery and that document is returned to the sender. For legal tenancy notifications, the law always requires the AR version.
Does this letter have the same legal value as one sent by a lawyer? ›
As for the evidential value of the mailing, yes. A registered letter with proof of receipt via CTT has the same value regardless of who the sender is. The content is based on lawyer-reviewed templates, but its suitability to your specific case is your responsibility. For complex situations, consult a lawyer.
I made a mistake. Can I fix it after submitting? ›
If the letter has not yet gone to CTT, yes: contact us right away on WhatsApp or reply to the confirmation email and we will fix it before printing. Once deposited with CTT, changes are no longer possible.
Do I need a Digital Mobile Key (CMD) to sign? ›
No. You can sign by hand — print the letter, sign it and send us a photo. The CMD is recommended for speed (30 seconds) but not mandatory.
